Since 2014 the Winter Gardens Trust and the Winter Gardens Blackpool have hosted the very popular Christmas tree festival at the venue.

Sadly, though understandably, this year's festival had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions but we didn't want to let the festive season pass without an event so ... we are delighted to launch the Winter Gardens Virtual Christmas Tree Festival 2020.

Community and faith groups, charities, businesses and organisations, schools, families and individuals are invited to enter simply by posting a photo or video of your decorated tree on social media. Your tree can be real or artificial, made and decorated from any materials - the more imaginative the better!

A panel from the Trust and the Winter Gardens will select a short-list of finalists to go forward to a public vote to find the winner for 2020.

Elaine Smith of the Winter Gardens Trust said, “Our wonderful volunteers usually start preparing for the Festival many weeks in advance but were unable to do so this year with the COVID-19 restrictions in place. It is a great shame but of course safety must come first and by sharing the images on-line we can still see all the wonderful trees from the community and find a deserving winner. It will be a lovely boost in these difficult times."

To enter a tree, simply post your creation to your Facebook or Twitter account with #WGTreefest no later than midnight on 15th December. The short-listed entries will be posted on the Winter Gardens and Winter Gardens Trust social media accounts for the public vote, the winner will be announced on Tuesday 22nd December.

In previous years the £10 entry fee for the Christmas tree festival has been a donation to the Winter Gardens Trust. This year we are encouraging everyone to support the Blue Skies Hospitals Appeal supporting Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
